Embark on an unforgettable journey through the Bernese Oberland following a section of the Via-Alpina hike, where towering mountains and cascading waterfalls await. Experience the Lauterbrunnen Valley, renowned for its awe-inspiring waterfalls plunging from sheer cliffs. Finishing the trip with a dip in one of Switzerland's most stunning alpine lakes. Its turquoise waters reflect the surrounding peaks as we celebrate an incredible route through these amazing mountains.

Experience true alpine hospitality as we spend nights in authentic mountain huts perched at 2800 meters, quaint wooden hostels nestled in charming Swiss villages and small hotels which offer a glimpse into local mountain life. Trip requirements

This is a challenging trip so you will need to have some previous hiking experience on different/steep terrains. You will need to:

  • have the ability to hike 15km along a trail with a backpack of around 10-15kg

  • You will need to be able to hike up to1800m of elevation in one day

  • The idea is to travel as light as possible so we’re not carrying huge backpacks.

  • You need to be happy travelling in a group and have a good sense of adventure

WHERE DO we meet?

We will meet you in Gimmelwald on the first day of the trip at 4pm. Here we will go through the plan for the week, and head out for dinner together (not included)

We finish the trip in Kandersteg on the final day after breakfast.

How do I get there?

The most environmentally friendly option is by train. It would be a beautiful journey into the Swiss mountains.

Nearest airports:

Zurich - 3.5 hr train to our meeting point

Geneva - 4.5hr train to our meeting point

(similar train times for the return journey from Kandersteg)

What time do we need to arrive?

We meet at 4pm on the first day of the trip and you are free to leave anytime on the final day of the trip as there are no activities planned after breakfast.

WHAT SHOULD MY hiking ABILITY BE?

You need to have a high level of hiking fitness and be able to hike on steep alpine terrain. Each day will vary the distance from 8-15km and you will need to be happy to do 1800m of elevation ascending/decending.

WHAT WILL THE GROUP SIZE BE?

We keep our groups nice and small, so we run the trips with a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 8.

WHAT IS THE FOOD LIKE?

We provide breakfast and lunches each day and 2 evening dinners when we are in the mountain huts. The breakfasts will be served in the accommodation, these will be continental style. For lunches, we will prepare sandwiches and lunches in the morning before we head out. You will need to supply your own snacks each day.

DO I NEED TRAVEL INSURANCE? 

Yes, travel insurance is a must. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the appropriate insurance to cover you for all aspects this trip, including cancellation.

CAN I COME ON MY OWN? 

Yes of course, It’s a great trip to meet new like minded people.
