Cook over fire. Paddle through islands. Sleep under the open sky.
A week exploring the wild beauty of the Finnish archipelago — by kayak, by firelight, and through food.
As part of a small group, we’ll spend 6 days paddling between remote islands, covering 10–20km a day through one of the largest archipelagos in the world. But this isn’t just a kayaking trip.
Each evening, we’ll arrive at a new island and build camp together. As the fire crackles to life, chef William Rhys Hamer will guide you through the art of cooking over flame, an interactive, hands-on experience where food becomes part of the adventure.
Think fresh, local ingredients. Cooking over embers. Eating under the open sky.
Simple. Wild. Properly good.
Explore the islands
We’ll spend 6 days at sea, weaving our way through a small selection of the 50,000 islands that make up the Finnish Archipelago.
Each day brings something new - hidden bays, open crossings, quiet beaches, and remote islands where we’ll stop for lunch, swim, or simply take it all in.
Each night, we’ll wild camp on a different island.
Tents pitched close to the water. Fires lit as the sun drops low.
Evenings are slow and simple:
Exploring the island
Swimming in the sea
Sauna (when we can!)
Cooking and eating together
Watching the light fade over the Baltic
Then falling asleep to the sound of the water.
A Typical Day
Morning
Wake up by the water. Coffee on and breakfast being prepared on the fire. A slow start before packing up camp and loading the kayaks.
Daytime
Paddle at a steady, relaxed pace (10–20km), stopping for lunch on a new island helping prep food and enjoying some delicious flappers before heading back to the kayaks to explore some more.
Afternoon
Arrive at a new island. Set up camp. Time to relax, swim, or wander.
Evening
Fire, food, and good company. Cooking together, eating well, and watching the sunset stretch long into the Nordic night.
The Wilder Kitchen
William is a chef from the Brecon Beacons in South Wales and founder of The Wilder Kitchen. His approach is simple - cook with what’s around you, respect the ingredients, and let the fire do the work. Using techniques inspired by kitchens and wild places around the world, William creates meals that are:
Seasonal
Locally sourced
Cooked entirely over fire
This is not a demonstration you watch, it’s something you’re part of. From curing fish to baking bread in embers, you’ll learn, cook, and eat together as a group. It’s about slowing things down. Understanding where food comes from. And reconnecting with the process of cooking outdoors.

There’s something about this combination. Paddling all day, arriving somewhere completely remote, and cooking over fire as the sun sets. It strips things back.
No distractions. No noise. Just good people, good food, and the rhythm of being outside.
It’s one of the simplest trips we run and one of the most memorable.
